Belgian outing for new Jaguar R5
|
Jaguar's 2004 challenger, the R5, got its first track outing on Monday, six days ahead of its official launch in Barcelona. The new car, which will be unveiled to the press on Sunday, underwent a brief shakedown test at the team's Lommel facility in Belgium.
The straight-line runs, which were limited by heavy rain, were conducted by Mark Webber and allowed the team to carry out a full systems check on the car ahead of its first public appearance this weekend.
The R5 will make its full track debut immediately following Sunday's launch with a three-day test at Spain's Circuit de Catalunya. Both Webber and new Austrian team mate Christian Klien are expected to be in action as the team prepare the car for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix on March 7.
