Paul Ricard day two - Massa sets the pace
|
Ferraris Felipe Massa was once again the leader as the Italian team continued testing alongside McLaren at Paul Ricard on Thursday. Massa was around a second faster than team mate Luca Badoer.
Both Ferrari drivers worked mainly on evaluating Bridgestone tyres for the forthcoming Canadian and US Grands Prix. Massa also continued experimenting with new aero solutions, while Badoer looked at new mechanical components and electronics.
At McLaren, Kimi Raikkonen and Gary Paffett continued the teams work on aerodynamic modifications and set-up work for Montreal, as well as a brake programme for the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, which is notoriously hard on this area of the car.
Testing concludes at Paul Ricard Friday, when Pedro de la Rosa will replace Raikkonen in the McLaren.
Unofficial Thursday times from Paul Ricard: 1. Felipe Massa, Ferrari (Bridgestone), 1:23.052 2. Luca Badoer, Ferrari (Bridgestone), 1:23.620 3. Kimi Raikkonen, McLaren (Michelin), 1:24.289 4. Gary Paffett, McLaren (Michelin), 1:25.549
