Williams FW27 - closed rear-brake drums
As first spotted on the grid in Istanbul, the brakes feature a sort of outer shell that completely covers the upright and the disc. The shell creates a semi-sealed area, which should cause air entering from the brake duct to circulate at a higher speed, hence improving cooling of the disc. The shell itself, however, is likely to get very hot, and there was speculation that this could have played a part in the team's right-rear tyre failures during the Turkish race.
